This morning's Nintendo Direct was packed full of new announcements and trailers. One of the more surprising reveals came in the form of an upcoming Wii U entry in the Legend of Zelda franchise. While it may not have been the Zelda announcement fans were waiting for, this partnership with Tecmo is sure to bring some interesting results.
This hack-and-slash game is currently titled Hyrule Warriors, though the trailer acknowledges that this isn't the final name. It looks to be exactly what one would expect from a Zelda game in the style of Dynasty Warriors. The gameplay footage has Link slashing his way through dozens of onscreen enemies, mostly consisting of Skyward Sword-styled Bokoblins. The trailer also has Link fighting a Dodongo and wielding a magical scepter. It appears that players will be able to gain several different abilities throughout the game.
The graphics appeared a bit rough and its safe to assume that the footage shown was of an early build. We look forward to seeing this title on the Wii U sometime in 2014.
