Nintendo is dropping the price of five of its popular 3DS games, according to an April 15, 2014 Cinema Blend Gaming Blend report. Each of the games will be available for $29.99, which is about $10 lower than they normally sell for. The 25 percent cut in price for the five games will be permanent, according to Joystiq, and begins April 22.
The popular titles offered at this reduced price are Super Mario 3D Land, New Super Mario Bros. 2, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Maro Kart 7, and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D. The video games will be available on the 3DS’ Nintendo eShop for digital download, and also in brick and mortar stores. According to Arcade Sushi, despite this announcement, “not every retailer may adhere to this price drop.”
The website notes that Nintendo has announced that Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D Land, and New Super Mario Bros. 2 are the three best-selling Nintendo 3DS games of all time, at least in the United States.
The price cut appears to be a strategy by Nintendo to attract gamers to make a 3DS purchase and score on some awesome games in the process, or to lure 3DS users to buy some of the games they might not yet have.
