Nintendo 3DS XL coming in Pikachu flavor

Nintendo announced a new version of the Nintendo 3DS XL on Thursday that pays tribute to the Pokemon franchise mascot, Pikachu. There's also an opportunity to get a free game with the new handheld.

The new Nintendo 3DS XL comes in a bold yellow color with a Pikachu outline on the backside. The handheld will be released on March 24 for $199.99 which is the same price as the standard edition of the handheld.

Nintendo is also offering a free game promotion for those that purchase the Pikachu Edition Nintendo 3DS XL. Anyone who registers a Nintendo 3DS XL system and either Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity or Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon with Club Nintendo between March 21 and April 30 will receive a code to download one of five Nintendo 3DS games for free: Super Mario 3D Land, Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask, Art Academy: Lessons for Everyone!, Star Fox 64 3D or Freakyforms Deluxe: Your Creations, Alive!
