In an announcement yesterday, the anime voiceover and music company Starchild revealed that the graphic novel, “Ninja Slayer”, would be getting an anime adaptation, produced by animation company Studio Trigger.
“Ninja Slayer” is a graphic novel created by Bradley Bond and Philip Ninj@ Morzez, that originated via Twitter and sold more than 300,000 units. It was translated into Japanese and uploaded on to Twitter in 2010 and became an underground hit, eventually being published in graphic novel form in 2012.
Studio Trigger, the company handling the anime adaptation, is best known for their recent work on the “Kill la Kill” anime series. More details about the anime version of “Ninja Slayer” will eventually be available via the anime’s official site.
The story of “Ninja Slayer” follows Kenji Fujikido, a salaryman whose family is killed in a ninja turf war. While facing his own death, Kenji is possessed by Naraku Ninja, a ninja soul, and Kenji becomes “Ninja Slayer”, a ninja destined to hunt down and kill evil ninja. In a quest for vengeance, Ninja Slayer will come face to face with the Soukai Syndicate ninja.
The world premiere of the “Ninja Slayer” promotional trailer will take place during the 2014 Anime Expo is Los Angeles, California this July. It will happen during the “Ninja Slayer” and Studio Trigger panel discussion on July 3, 2014 at 6:00 pm.
