A nine-year-old girl, Dafne, from Mexico, gave birth to a baby via C-section. The girl's boyfriend, who is seventeen, was not present. ABC News reported on Feb. 6 that Mexican authorities are searching for the teen boy who is the reported father of the baby. The little girl, due to her age and lack of physical development, had to have a C-section.
It is possible that the father of the baby will be charged with either rape or child sex abuse. Dafne claims their relationship was both consensual and loving. A spokesperson for the Jalisco Prosecutor's Office said it was unknown if the girl was being truthful about the situation.
“He may not face charges?” Lisa Winters, from Oklahoma City, asked. “I completely understand that. If he got my nine-year-old daughter pregnant, he wouldn't live to face charges. It wouldn't just be me and my husband he'd have to worry about. I don't know very many Okies who wouldn't take care of business when it comes to the rape of a little girl.”
Dafne didn't know she was pregnant until she was seven months along. The alleged boyfriend wanted Dafne to move in with him so they could raise the baby together. When Dafne refused the teen left town. That was about two months ago.
“I don't doubt at all she didn't know she was pregnant,” Winters continued. “My daughter is also nine and she doesn't know how women get pregnant – not the details. She knows moms and dads have sex, but she doesn't know anymore than that. She's too little.”
Dafne has 10 brothers and sisters. They live in a poverty-stricken area just south of Guadalajara. Both of her parents work all day and are unable to watch their daughter.
