Earlier this morning a Galveston County Judge has signed Nina’s (AKA Fine Wine) custody over to the Lexus Project. Megan Penrod an attorney representing the Lexus Project and Great Dane Rescue of Southeast Texas, was on hand this morning in Galveston County, to retrieve Nina from the Scott Veterinarian clinic.
The Save Nina AKA "Fine Wine," Facebook page, released this statement;
“After 4 days in a “jail cell”, it is with extreme excitement that we announce Nina aka “Fine Wine” has been released from Scott Veterinary Clinic. We would like to thank The Lexus Project, Christiana, Jana, and Megan for their hard work and dedication in working with local police and the local judicial system in order to allow Nina to be brought to safety. She is now in our hands and will be immediately receiving proper veterinary care including X-rays to review any possible bone fractures. Interestingly, not a single X-ray was taken by Dr. Scott Johnson’s Clinic. It is very unfortunate that we had to pursue legal action but we are extremely grateful that Nina’s freedom has been “officially” granted by a Galveston County Judge. There are still many questions that we hope to answer, one of which is why Dr. Johnson and Galveston County attorney Bob Boemer were so reluctant to release her? But one thing is for sure; Nina is now in the best of hands and will receive top notch veterinary care. We will continue to provide official updates as we learn more about Nina’s overall health and learn more about her story.”
People around the country can now rest easier knowing Nina is now safe and can recover in a loving environment.
