The second annual Nike Women's Half Marathon, a race to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, will take place on Sunday, April 27, 2014, from 5 a.m. to 8 a.m., along the historic streets of Washington, D.C. at 11 St. and Pennsylvania Avenue. Organizers are looking for volunteers.
The Nike Women's Marathon began in 2004, in San Francisco, to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Joan Benoit Samuelson's historic victory in the first women's marathon in the Olympics. This year, the Nike Women's Half Marathon has again sold out, with the race having created a platform for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to raise more than $134 million dollars through its Team In Training program's partnership with the Nike Women's Marathon. The Nike Women's Marathon race series provides a premium event experience that annually celebrates the strength, determination, and accomplishments of women worldwide.
The National Capital Area Women's Paddling Association (NCAWPA) is seeking enthusiastic volunteers to help them support this good cause. For information on how to volunteer with NCAWPA to support the Nike Women's Half Marathon, reach out to Sharon Hong, MSW, LGSW, NCAWPA Youth Program Coordinator, at email@example.com, or chick here to view the Facebook events page.
