To kick off 2013, Nike has revealed the release date of the Nike LeBron X "Cork" on Tuesday, a unique collaboration between Nike Basketball and Nike's lifestyle division, Nike Sportswear. The Nike LeBron X "Cork," which features actual cork on the upper, will drop on Saturday, February 23 at select Nike accounts.
With the hype for the "Cork" gathering after it was first revealed late last year, there will be plenty of people anticipating this new endeavor by Nike. Nike Sportswear is promising that this is just the first of many different editions of their current signature shoes that will be released in non-traditional materials. One thing to keep in mind is that these shoes are not designed for athletic use, which is a point Nike has stressed since they first revealed the "Cork."
No price has been revealed along with the locations that will carry the shoe. Stay tuned here for more details.
Here is the press release from Nike:
Paying tribute to LeBron James and his first championship, Nike Sportswear has created a special lifestyle edition of the LEBRON X shoe that is made of genuine cork.
Releasing Saturday, February 23, this LEBRON X NSW cork edition honors the tradition of cork-popping champagne celebrations. James celebrated the occasion last June when he and his teammates brought home another championship for Miami.
The LEBRON X NSW cork edition features many of the same characteristics of the LEBRON X performance shoe but with a unique, personalized touch to the upper.
Expect the unexpected as 2013 will welcome additional basketball footwear surprises. Nike Sportswear will create distinctive versions of Nike signature basketball shoes, all remixed with premium materials for non-performance use.
