Nike revealed the eleventh signature shoe in LeBron James' historic line on Wednesday with the Nike LeBron 11. The story of the Nike LeBron 11 is that of duality with several ambigrams featured throughout the shoe, where a symbol like the swoosh or a sock liner graphic might mean one thing when viewed from a particular angle but mean something totally different when viewed from another.
As has been the case with previous LeBron releases, the shoes are not only leading the way by being at the bleeding edge of design, but also technology as well. According to Nike, this will be the lightest LeBron signature shoe yet, weighing in at 14.5 ounces for a men's size 9. Features of the LeBron 11 include Hyperposite technology that was found in last year's popular Nike Air Max Hyperposite, Hyperfuse, Dynamic Flywire and for the first time ever in a LeBron signature model, Lunarlon units to go along with the staple Zoom Air. The reasoning for the combination is because Nike wanted to get LeBron's feet closer to the court, something that wasn't always possible with previous releases with its full-length Zoom Air units.
The two colorways that will debut the Nike LeBron 11 are the "King's Pride" and "Terracotta Warrior." Originally called the "Parachute Gold" when first leaked earlier in the year, the "King's Pride" alludes to James' affinity for the king of the jungle and the way that it rules the animal world. The "Terracotta Warrior" colorway is a callback to an art exhibit James visited in China back in 2011, with a predominantly stone grey look mixed in with more contemporary colors like purple, teal and red.
The Nike LeBron 11 "King’s Pride" colorway will debut on October 12 around the world while the "Terracotta Warrior" colorway will be available in China on October 1 and hit the rest of the world on November 27. An official price was not revealed at this time.
