Nike announced on Thursday that the Nike Hyperdunk 2014 "City Pack" will be making their on-court debut at the World Basketball Festival. The shoes will be worn by the four teams that will comprise the Tournament of Champions, a special event that will pit the best of local players in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York and Washington, D.C. in a competition for bragging rights.
Each team will wear a special colorway of the new Nike Hyperdunk 2014 that represents a unique characteristic of the their respective city. The "Chicago" Hyperdunk is a tribute to the city's amazing legacy in the world of basketball, the "New York" honors the city's concrete jungle and sky-high buildings, "Los Angeles" takes their vibrant colors from the beautiful California sunset and the "D.C." is a cool colorway that is inspired by the Potomac River. The Hyperdunk has come from a long way since its debut back in 2008 when the shoes was introduced as the pinnacle of performance by Nike Basketball.
The 2014 edition of the World Basketball Festival will be emanating from Chicago from August 13-17. Hosted by Nike and Jordan Brand, the World Basketball Festival is a celebration of the game and the impact it has had on the world while also serving as a precursor for the upcoming FIBA World Cup of Basketball.
