As the spring weather arrives, we spend more of our time outdoors. Once the clocks spring forward and daylight lasts into the evening, families can spend “extra” quality time together. They can take evening walks unraveling nighttime mysteries or enjoy a nice campfire. Many local nature centers offer evening family activities, such as night hiking and campfires.
Spring Family Night Hike & Campfire
On Friday, April 12 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Irvine Nature Center is offering the Spring Family Night Hike & Campfire, a program suitable for families of all ages, on the park grounds. Reservations are required to attend the program, and walk-ins are not allowed.
The Spring Family Night Hike & Campfire is $5.00 for members and $10.00 for non-members. To attend a program click here to register, or become a member by clicking here.
Join a fun family night hike in search of bats and owls. Discover how good your senses are at night. Afterwards, enjoy a warm campfire with, “s'mores, and maybe even a song or two!”
What You Need to Know
The Irvine Nature Center is located at 11201 Garrison Forest Road in Owings Mills across from Jemicy Upper School (click here for directions).
It offers many learning activities for children, families and adults. Families can enjoy hiking, while children will have fun with hands-on activities. Adults can enjoy seminars, classes, sales, and other events.
Admission to the Irvine Nature Center is free, although some programs require a registration fee.
The Nature Center is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Sunday, and the Nature Store is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday as well as 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. It is closed New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.
