A cat, yes a cat, has been allegedly disowned by its owner for "an unnatural sexual behavior" according to the Huffington Post on Jan. 24.

How the women determined the cat, that goes by the name of Bull, is gay is another story. But a Nigerian newspaper reported that the owner came to that conclusion because the cat was only initiating sexual contact with other male cats in her household.

According to the report:

"By this, the cat has made a record as the first cat to be so publicly declared gay and disowned by its owner."

The women, who has owed Bull for seven years, was quoted saying "anybody interested in this gay cat can have it because I have no further use of it."

The newspaper goes on to report that even neighbors suspected that Bull was gay because no kittens had been born that matched Bull's color. The owner then stated her believe that "the divine purpose of creating male and female of every creature to fulfill an ordained purpose of procreation."

This action proves how harsh homophobia is in the country of Nigeria as President Goodluck Jonathan recently signed a controversial bill banning same-sex marriage as well as any acts of relations, and participation in LGBT rights groups.

Under the law anyone who does enter into a same-sex marriage or civil union can be jailed for up to 14 years. The law doesn't apply to pets, but apparently even they are subject to the homophobic treatment that is going on in the country.

As far as Bull, the cat goes, no one has turned up to claim the cat.
