On Dec. 4, Nigella Lawson admitted to drug use while appearing in court. However, the celebrated chef said under oath in London's Isleworth Crown Court that she is definitely not a drug addict even though she did cop to the fact that she had been an occasional cocaine user as well as a person who has smoked marijuana in the past.
According to the Associated Press via Yahoo! News, this celebrity talked about her situation while speaking up for the prosecution during the Elisabetta and Francesca Grillo trial.
These Italian sisters, who were employed as personal assistants to Nigella, were accused of theft via the use of credit cards issued to Lawson and her former husband, Charles Saatchi. Their combined spending while paying with the plastic that was not issued to either woman was said to add up to more than a million dollars.
During her testimony, Nigella Lawson talked about her former spouse trying to do what he could to do what he could to make the public believe she is not credible. Saatchi, a legendary millionaire, who is said to be reclusive, allegedly became a rumor monger after he was photographed at Scott's restaurant in the British capital.
In the images that reached the press, he was shown grabbing Nigella's throat as the two sat outside the eatery. This caused an uproar and caused Lawson to flee their London flat to get away from the man she married.
Possibly partly because of her fame as a so-called domestic goddess who regularly appears on television, Lawson says she was told by Saatchi that "...if I didn't get back to him and clear his name he would destroy me."
And so, as the two women on trial claim they are innocent, Nigella Lawson is said to have discussed her alleged drug use, her former husband Charles Saatchi and even, to some extent. the price of fame while testifying in this particular case.
