"The X Factor" U.K. judge Nicole Scherzinger has debuted at No. 6 on the U.K. singles chart with "Boomerang" for the week ending March 23, 2013. The Official Charts Company announced the charts for the week on March 17, 2013.
As previously reported, people on the Internet had mixed reactions to her music video for "Boomerang," the first single from her second solo album. The video premiered on Jan. 25, 2013.
Scherzinger, who is a former member of the Pussycat Dolls, appears in various outfits in the video, which uses special effects to show multiple images of Scherzinger on the screen.
The U.K. release date for "Boomerang" was on March 10, 2013. The title and release date for Scherzinger's second solo album are to be announced. Scherzinger collaborated with Will.i.am on the album.
Her first solo album, "Killer Love," was released in Europe in March 2011, and yielded three top 10 hits in the U.K.: "Poison," "Right There" and "Don't Hold Your Breath."
Interscope Records still has not set a U.S. release date for "Killer Love," but in 2011 Interscope did release "Right There" and "Don't Hold Your Breath" in the U.S., where the songs were not big hits. "Right There" reached No. 39 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart, while "Don't Hold Your Breath" peaked at No. 86 on the chart. There are currently no plans to release "Boomerang" in the U.S.
Scherzinger was a judge on "The X Factor" U.S. in 2011. She joined "The X Factor" U.K. judging panel in 2012. In her first season on "The X Factor" U.K. in 2012, she mentored the show's final two contestants: James Arthur (winner) and Jahmene Douglas (second place). Arthur and Douglas are now both signed to Sony Music. Scherzinger has not yet confirmed if she will continue to be a judge on "The X Factor" U.K. in 2013, but insiders are predicting that she will stay with this show this year.
