According to USA Today on Friday, Michael Strahan and Nicole Murphy have split up after being engaged for five years. Strahan was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame Saturday, for his career accomplishments as a New York Giant. According to Strahan, distance and the two’s schedule has taken its toll on the relationship.
Both Strahan's and Murphy's representative have solidified the news. The New York Daily News addressed the new inductee, "He’ll be enshrined — but not engaged."
Strahan's rep said in a statement to the LA Times, "They love each other very much, but with the distance and work schedule it has been hard to maintain the relationship."
The couple started dating seven years ago in 2007, and has been engaged since 2009. The model and VH1 star was previously married to actor Eddie Murphy and this would have been her second marriage and Strahan's third. The pair has a total of nine children between them. Strahan, 42, has four children, and Murphy, 46, has five children. They didn’t have any children together.
Murphy has been a guest on "Live! With Kelly and Michael" many times to share things about she and Michael’s relationships (particularly about him) and to share her cooking talent.
When the two started their relationship, Murphy told People that she was hesitant to jump back into the dating pool following her divorce, but she liked what she saw, and Strahan was just what she wanted.
Both had hectic scheduled. Strahan added another role to his plate this year by joining the top-rated, ‘Good Morning America,’ show in April, and he flies to Los Angeles on weekends to co-anchor "Fox NFL Sunday" before taking a red-eye flight back to New York. Additionally, Strahan does his fitness regime every day in the wee morning hour at 4:30 am.
It is sad to see a relationship end after many years have been invested into each other and each other’s family.
Do you think Michael Strahan or Nicole Murphy will ever marry again?
