Nicole Kidman and her husband Keith Urban have two children, her youngest, Faith was born via a gestational carrier and Nicole talked about that experience very openly.
Faith is the biological child of both Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban. Unlike a surrogate mother, who uses the sperm of the man and carries a baby, Faith was born with one of Nicole Kidman’s egg, which was fertilized by her husband’s sperm.
Basically a gestational carrier, carries a baby that is not biologically hers, where traditionally a surrogate mother is the biological mother, according to Medicine Net.
Nicole Kidman said the gestational carrier birth was “so deeply emotional,” especially after giving birth to Sunday, their first daughter, and then seeing her biological child being born through the gestational carrier.
“The love I felt for the gestational carrier, she was the most wonderful woman to do this for us,” said a teary eyed Kidman.
Nicole Kidman has not tried to hide her infertility issues from the world. She said that “anyone that has been in the place of wanting another child, or wanting a child, knows the disappointment, pain and loss you go through trying.”
Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise share two children together. They do not live with Kidman and Urban, although she said she would “love to have them come and live with them at some stage.” The kids, Connor and Bella are 18 and 16, “they’re teenagers in a whole different place said Kidman.”
Nicole Kidman is expected to appear at the Oscars 2011 tonight, where she has been nominated for “Best Actress” for the “Rabbit Hole.”
