Nicolas Cage must be desperate for money. According to several trustworthy sources, the controversial actor has signed on to perform alongside Ashley Tisdale in the reboot of the moderately successful evangelical film series.
The original series of 'Left Behind' films were seriously lacking in quality, and one wonders if Cage's presence as well as a large production budget could help matters. Cage is a talented actor, but his projects as of late have ranged from mediocre to downright awful.
The films are sure to be successful in conservative circles, as church groups will no doubt purchase tickets and spread the word. This time, instead of Kirk Cameron, there is a somewhat bankable star in the lead.
Time can only tell whether the films will be any good, or whether they will fall into the "so bad, they're good" category.
With Cage on board, you can never tell. This could turn out to be the camp-fest of the century.
