NEW YORK, NEW YORK—Fluorescent lights and thumping bass emanated from Governors Island this past Saturday, September 28th, as rising EDM superstar Nicky Romero dominated Governors Beach Club with heart-pounding music that enticed swarms of EDM fans by the thousands and closed the beach club for the season with an impressive grand finale.
Nicky Romero’s music and energy unleashed an island bursting with effervescent fans that immediately were induced with chart-topping hits that included: “I Could Be the One,” “Like Home,” “Legacy,” “Iron,” “Toulouse,” “Se7en,” and “S.O.T.U.” He combined a perfect blend of energetic beats that aroused the vivacious crowd while appropriately inter-mixing them with eloquent vocals that the fans immediately embraced.
Flags from around the world waved to the stage as united fans bounced, raved, even crowd surfaced to every brinking beat-drop Romero provided. To further amplify the event experience, acrobats performed tricks from a fabric strewn ceiling that heightened all senses and left the audience entertained from every direction.
Nicky Romero’s performance was a clear reflection of the impact and influence he has had on the EDM culture and community over the past two years. While thousands of fans vociferously chanted every song that he played, audience members by the dozen proudly sported Romero’s distinct Guy Fawkes’ masks that Romero wore in his most recent, “Toulouse” music video, adding “trend-setter” to the impressive list of titles to his belt.
Romero’s performance was as over-the-top as it was humble as he radiated positive energy to the New York City crowd reflecting on his first performance two years prior to a mere few hundred supporters. On multiple occasions he stopped to humbly thank his audience, ultimately displaying a well-grounded character and genuine gratitude toward his beloved fans. Reaching the ears of the mainstreamed masses with his summer sensation, “I Could Be the One,” Romero has proven to be one of the leading DJs in the industry to snowball EDM music into what many define a “youth movement.”
Nicky Romero’s end-of-the season closing party performance at Governors Beach Club was one of the final stops on Nicky Romero’s Nothing Toulouse Tour that ended at the first ever TomorrowWorld USA in Atlanta, Georgia on September 29th.
