While cameras flashed on the red carpet Minaj told reporters that her New Year’s resolution was not to buy anymore shoes and that in 2013 she looks forward to her clothing line and working on her third album.
Minaj also talked about her new singles from the album “The Re-Up.” “I think I’m actually going to shoot a new video for one of the songs on “The Re-Up” in a couple weeks, so I’m really excited. It might be “I’m Legit” or “High School” but I’m not sure yet.”
On the club's terrace that overlooks the strip, the larger-than-life fashion icon counted down the end of the year and toasted the beginning of 2013 with champagne while choreographed fireworks exploded up and down the length of what is one of the most famous boulevards in America.
“Vegas is symbolic of New Year’s Eve…its just an exciting place to be for New Year’s Eve," said Minaj.
Just after 1 a.m., the golden goddess performed her hit singles “Moment 4 Life” and “Starships.”
On stage she wished the crowd a happy new year and said, “I want to congratulate all of you for living to 2013. A lot of people didn’t live to see this year. So if you’re here in this room tonight I thank God for you and I hope you thank God for life.”
When asked about the evening’s firework show, she replied, “I am a big firework. They have to do a lot to match me.”
And they did.
