Nicki Minaj, Rihanna thankful for 2013 People's Choice Award wins

Nicki Minaj and Rihanna are thankful for their recent People's Choice Award wins. Speaking out Thursday, both recording artists thanked fans for choosing them based on musical efforts like "Pink Friday" and "Unapologetic."

"Thanks Barbz. My first People's Choice Award. Yaaayyyyy. How exciting. Nice of them to think of me," Nicki Minaj told fans after learning of her win for Favorite Hip Hop Artist.

Minaj was unable to attend the ceremony Wednesday night, as she was attending an "American Idol" press event, which was streamed online.

Equally enthused with winning an award, Rihanna reached out to her fans as well.

"Special big ups to the people who voted for me, it was worth it. Thanks for being, not just consistent, but loyal. I feel special, having you guys to inspire me and to grow with me. Thank you and I love you," said Rihanna.

Thanks to music like "Diamonds," Rihanna won Favorite R&B Artist.

The People's Choice Awards aired Wednesday, Jan. 9 on CBS.
