Nicki Minaj credits Kanye West as a mentor: Fashion advice as well as music

It appears that Nicki Minaj definitely has some great mentors. Known to be learning from Drake and Rick Ross, add Kanye West to the growing list. The latest mentor name may not be surprising, but what is shocking is what she is learning from Kanye is more than music it is fashion too.

Nicki Minaj has been moving up the rap and hip hop charts quickly. Her fame had shot up with her new album ‘Pink Friday’ but even before then she was in touch with Kanye West as she had a lyrical portion on Monster.

"He's become my mentor, he gives me advice, he hits me, he takes random pictures off-line and says 'Oh this is a good picture of you'. He's really into fashion so he's a good person to have a well-rounded conversation with." Nicki Minaj tells RWD magazine.

Fashion? While one of the biggest musical artists on the scene can spew lyrics like no tomorrow, the last place we felt Minaj could be getting fashion advice from would be Kanye West. Especially since Nicki Minaj looks sexy in almost every outfit we have seen her in both on and off the stage. Perhaps West is why she does look so good.

If Kanye West is part of this fashion diva’s wardrobe camp, then more power to him. He always looks good himself, so perhaps this is his next career choice. The ladies would love the chance to buy his clothes and if Nicki Minja trusts him, we should too.
