Nicki Minaj and the $30 million lawsuit against her

The former hairstylist for Nicki Minaj, Terrence Davidson, filed for a $30 million federal lawsuit against her on February 21 in Atlanta. Davidson is accusing Minaj of stealing ideas on wig styles. The hair stylist began working for Nicki Minaj in January of 2010. She had him make her wigs for her public appearances as well as her music videos; one of which being Super Bass.

Davidson claims that he and Nicki Minaj’s team had talked about going in to a joint business venture together where they would sell wigs as well as create a celebrity wig stylist reality show. The stylist claims Minaj and her team have taken steps to isolate him and preclude him from the credit he should have for the wig designs.

Davidson claims that he later saw Nicki Minaj selling the wigs online. Some of the wigs that she was selling were actually duplicates of his designs according to him. His lawyer, Christopher Chestnut, commented stating that Nicki Minaj is receiving a lot of financial bounty as well as great success for Davidson’s creations. Chestnut says that Minaj is applauded for having success but she must give back to those whose designs are giving her so much success.
