What happens when the emotions of the judges get out of hand? The media is busy with Nicki Minaj antics. NZ City reported today, that Nicki Minaj threatened to walk off the stage once again. According to the online publication, “Nicki Minaj threatened to quit “American Idol” after her favorite act was voted off the show. “American Idol” is a show where careers are made and hearts are broken. Not only the contests are worried or happy when they advance to the next stage of the competition; the emotions of the audience and judges come into play.NZ City goes on to say, “After host Ryan Seacrest announced that Curtis and fellow contestant Devin Velez had garnered the least viewer votes, an angry Nicki pleaded: "I definitely think Curtis should not be in the bottom two. I mean, I love Devin but I think that Curtis, if you look at every one of his performances, I mean - come on, America, are you kidding me? Curtis, if you go home, I go home."
Nicki jumped off the chair and was ready to leave until judge Randy Jackson told her she must return to the chair. What made it worst was that Nicki was late for the show in the first place. This is something she has done more than once.
Robert Paul Reyes of the SOP continues,” American Idol`s` ratings are in free fall, It`s no mystery why. Minaj is largely to blame. The Fox network needs to boot her off the show and quick before even more viewers abandon `American Idol` for `The Voice ` when it returns on March 25."
Reyes quotes the Washington Times, “I write about politics, religion, and current events, but I am primarily known as a pop culture critic. I pride myself in knowing what`s hot in pop culture. I keep up with the young kids consider sweet, as well as with what plays well with the older set. When I first heard that Nicki Minaj had been tapped to be an American Idol judge I knew that Middle America would never accept her. Idol owed its success to middle-aged adults in the heartland as much as it did to teeny boppers in urban areas, and Minaj with her Illuminati imagery and her ghetto sensibilities was a bad fit for a family-oriented program. Minaj has transformed Idol from a wholesome singing competition into a reality TV nightmare where crudeness and thuggery prevails.”
The contestant who was eliminated, Curtis Finch Jr., takes it all in stride. He told billboard in an interview," I think Nicki's great, but I also think the other judges are great as well, and so by her not being there for my performance I don't think really it would have changed today.”
“Nicki Minaj is a Trinidadian-born American rapper, singer-songwriter and television personality. Minaj's work has earned her six BET AWARDS, four American Music Awards, two MTV Music Awards, MTV Music Awards, an EMA and "Billboard's 2011 Rising Star." She is the first female artist included on MTV’s Annual Hottest MC List with The New York Times suggesting that some consider her "the most influential female rapper of all time." The Source named Minaj the Woman of the Year for 2012.
The question now remains will Nicki Minaj tone down or leave American Idol?
