A video is surfacing of an October, 2012 incident between American Idol (AI) judges Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj, leaving Mariah to bump up security supposedly out of fear for her two children. During an interview with Barbara Walters, Carey explained her side of the story about an argument with Minaj over a contestant, and after hearing about a supposed “death threat” from Minaj, she was not going to take any chances and has hired more security.
After Minaj’s October outburst towards Mariah on the set of AI, Carey stated, “Oh why, why do I have a three year old around me? I can’t see my kids because you decided to act like a crazy b***h and go all around the stage.” After the exchange, Minaj was reportedly heard saying, “If I had a gun I would shoot that b***h.” AI shut down the show’s production for a short time to give the two divas space and time to cool off after the heated argument.

In the midst of Carey’s interview with Barbara Walters, Minaj sent off a Twitter rant and said initially she “was going to keep quiet, but let’s go.” The rapper continues to state she “stands on her own two feet”, and “I guess it hurts to hear the producers tell you to your face that Nicki is the best judge we’ve had since Simon.”
