Chicago preschoolers looking for some entertainment on Labor Day, Monday, September 6, 2010, can watch and rock out to the first annual Nickelodeon Mega Music Fest concert premiering on Nickelodeon at 7:00 p.m. Central Time. This lively one-hour concert special will feature characters from popular Nick Jr. shows like The Fresh Beat Band, Dora the Explorer, Ni Hao Kai-lan, and Yo Gabba Gabba! singing and interacting with celebrities and pop stars like Justin Bieber and Colbie Caillat.

A mix of animated segments, live-action performances, and comic skits, this preschool music concert special promises to be fast-moving and appealing to younger viewers. Favorite preschool characters will appear next to famous musicians such as Colbie Caillat, Wyclef Jean, Justin Bieber, The Roots, and The Laurie Berkner Band. John Leguizamo will act as the event host, with Sherri Shepherd taking the part of the stage manager.
Hit songs on the Mega Music Fest playlist that will be recognizable to older family members include "Walking on Sunshine," "La Bamba," and "Let's Get Loud," while younger children will get their groove on to "Party in My Tummy" (from Yo Gabba Gabba!), "Great Day!" (from The Fresh Beat Band), and "My Family" (by The Laurie Berkner Band).

Supervised preschoolers can visit the Nickelodeon Mega Music Fest website for some extra fun before, during, and after the concert. Young visitors can print out collectible keepsake wrist bands, circle the characters on one set as they perform, and then color and identify the musical instruments on the second set. Kids can also print out colorful VIP backstage passes to wear, as well as special stickers and tattoos, a keepsake concert poster, a concert program (with cute snack tickets), and iron-on decals for making concert T-shirts.
Families can view behind the scenes concert videos and play the Mega Music Game to make music with some of their favorite Nick Jr. characters. They can also read recipes for groovy music-themed snacks to create for their own concession stands and instructions for fun music-themed crafts like music instruments to make so kids can play along with the musical performers.

Encore presentations of this preschool music concert special will air in Chicago on Nickelodeon at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 7 and at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 9, on Nick 2 at 10:00 p.m. on Labor Day and at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 9, and on Nick Jr. at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 12. The concert will simulcast on Nick Mobile on Labor Day.
