Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2014: Selena Gomez, Josh Peck and more

Clear sunny skies in the city of Los Angeles set the tone for the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2014 as limos and fans jammed the entrance of the countdown to the network’s biggest broadcast show of the year. The hottest topic on the orange carpet and inside the awards was about speculation of who would be slimed. Some stars described the slime this year like a fruit smoothie and others described it as like a creamy cupcake. Excitement filled the air at the top of the festivities with fans lined down the decorated streets as they waited to cheer for their favorite stars on arrival.

Stars appeared in hip trendy fashion with upbeat energy sharing their excitement in interviews about career updates as well as with the reciprocity of admiration for one another which set the tone for celebrity synergy amongst nominees and stars attending in support of the televised broadcast. The carpet activities evolved into an exciting pre-show complete with stars dancing to Pharrell’s hit, “Happy”, while signing autographs and even dipping their hands in slime for fans to take their photos as they made their way to the backstage of the televised event.

At the top of arrivals, A.N.T. Farm star, Jake Short, stepped on the orange carpet with a trendy bow tie and all smiles along with Cody Simpson who caught everyone’s eye with his freshly coiffed hairstyle as fans cheered their arrivals at the top of the orange carpet festivities.

Glee star, Lauren Potter, was welcomed with cheers as fans yelled “Becky” upon her arrival with the utmost respect for the popular actress. Potter shared her excitement about coming out to participate in this year’s show and that she hoped this year she would have the chance to meet one of her favorite Nickelodeon stars, Drake Bell. Potter weighed in on the official “sliming” activities and shared that she was looking forward to getting slimed herself at this year’s awards.

Austin & Ally star,Ross Lynch, grabbed the attention of fans as he ran toward fans reaching over the barricades to personally sign autographs while making his way down the carpet. Lynch expressed about his appreciation for being nominated and enjoying the whole awards experience prior to clinching the “Favorite TV Actor” award.

Some of Nickelodeon’s favorite stars arrived in attendance bringing out their families to join them on the carpet as they stepped out of their individual limos including popular actress, Cristina Millian, Comedian Kevin Hart, Chris Rock, Haunted Hathaways’ star, Chico Benymon, and Grammy Recording Artist, Pharrell Williams, who celebrated his hit single, Happy from Despicable Me Extinction. On the father-son fashion front, Benymon and his son stepped out posing dressed alike in fashionable blue denim vests and white shirts walking and cheering with fans up until his son got first site of the slime zone which drew him to run and dip his hand in the goo like most stars on arrivals.

Veteran actor, David Hasselhoff, brought humor to his appearance when he was asked about the slime zone. He expressed that of all the people he would like to see slimed he hoped that it would be the list of all of his official agents of the last 10 years who unfortunately for them were not present. John Cena spoke about his dream of seeing one of his favorite actors, Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson, getting drenched with slime on stage during a presentation at the awards show.

Ariana Grande(Sam and Cat) and Storm Reid(12 Years a Slave) playfully high fived fans as they made their way briskly down the carpet to the back stage of the awards show. Reese Hartwig took time out to tell the media and fans the story of how he had been pranked by his big brother to eat Scooby snacks when he was a little boy. He recounted that some time later he learned that Scooby snacks were actually Kibbles and Bits ,an experience that he recounted was his most memorable prank on the receiving end.

Jack Griffo known to his fans as “Max” on Nickelodeon’s comedy series, The Thundermoms, spoke of his hopes that this year’s host, Mark Wahlberg, would be slimed during the telecast, a wish that came true during the all star telecast to the cheers of fans and even Wahlberg himself. Griffo’s cast member, Addison Riecke, dazzled with a pink bow tie neatly pinned to her hair as she walked the carpet sharing about the fun adventures on the Nick set in her popular character role of Nora.

Josh Peck, one of Nickelodeon’s most popular stars, spoke of his heartfelt appreciation for the network in providing the platform for him as a child star to grow as a comedic actor in front of fans around the world. He spoke how the experience continues to evolve his vision for his career in the entertainment industry and gave a possible hint of a new project that he is working on that will be announced shortly.

The show’s host, Mark Wahlberg, along with some presenters and nominees like Adam Sandler and Selena Gomez were busy backstage preparing for the countdown to the show as other stars who walked the outdoor carpet kept fans happily engaged with an experience of a life time to meet and greet them up close and personal on the pre-show extravaganza.

The Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards 2014 rates overall as simply marvelous. With a playful and engaging top of the line red carpet and pre-show setting, the network set the bar high in outstanding presentation and the celebrity experience with fans. The awards telecast continued in the mode of excellence with the winners of the night taking home the prized trophies for favorites of the year.
