Nickelback are the latest addition to the 2012 Juno Awards performers’ roster.
According to a press release issued yesterday (2/8/12) by Juno broadcast sponsors CTV, the much-maligned Canuck rockers, along with Abbotsford, BC pop rockers Hedley will join previously announced performers, which include Canadian Hall of Fame inductees Blue Rodeo, City and Colour, deadmau5 and Feist.
Nominated for Single of the Year, Album of the Year, Group of the Year, and the Juno Fan Choice Award, the “How You Remind Me” hitmakers are tied for most Juno nominations, along with fellow Canadian acts City and Colour, Dan Mangan, Drake and Feist and Hedley, each with 4 nominations apiece.
Other multiple nominees include Avril Lavigne, The Sheepdogs, Down With Webster, Deadmau5, Michael Buble, Justin Bieber, Jim Cuddy, Ron Sexsmith and Sam Roberts.
Hosted by the intrepid Canadian actor/singer/comedian William Shatner, the 2012 Juno Awards will take place at Ottawa’s Scotiabank Place on Sunday, April 1, and will air nationally on the CTV network.
The Juno Awards are presented annually to Canadian musicians to acknowledge their artistic and technical achievements in all aspects of music. New members of the Canadian Music Hall of Fame are also inducted as part of the awards ceremonies.
Did you know? Last year’s Juno Awards were highlighted by Montreal indie rockers Arcade Fire, who walked off with 4 awards.
