Nickelback have taken to their social media pages after a lengthy lull to tell fans they have finished shooting two new videos. The multi-Platinum selling Canuck rockers have been quietly working on a new studio album and have not toured since wrapping up the their Greatest Hits Tour on Dec. 19, 2013 in South Africa.
In an update posted Aug. 14 at the band’s official Twitter account, the "How You Remind Me" hitmakers posted a photo of a film reel marked "Revolution," with a caption saying, "two videos in two days...that's a wrap." The multi- Juno winners have tweeted five teaser updates in total over the last two days about the shoot, which have included shots of guitarist Ryan Peake and drummer Daniel Adair working on the video, a cover art shot, clues about director identity (Wayne Isham), as well as release date information.
Hashtags used in the updates indicate the videos shot were for two new songs titled "Edge of a Revolution" and "What are you Waiting for?" A black and white photo of a raised flag bearing the "Revolution" song title, had a accompanying caption, saying " "Hitting airwaves and iTunes next week. #EdgeOfARevolution."
"Revolution" is scheduled to be the lead rock single from the album and is titled expected to be released to radio and iTunes on August 18. "What Are You Waiting For" is slated to be the lead pop single (second overall) and will likely hit airwaves and shelves on Sept. 22.
Last month, Nickelback revealed they are in currently in secret meetings to hammer out details for a 2015 tour. The band posted pictures of an inception document, bearing the title "Nickleback Tour 2015," accompanied by a teaser caption, which said, "Busy day of meetings... Top Secret!"
Kroeger revealed plans for their 8th studio album in a June interview with Vancouver's CFOX-FM. The album may be titled No Fixed Address and will hit shelves by the end of 2014.
Prior to the recent posts, there has been almost no news updates from the Hanna, Alberta natives since last year, save for bandmember birthday wishes. Asides from a Greatest Hits package released last year, Nickelback has not released a studio album since 2011's Here and Now.
Did you know? Nickelback’s most recent studio album, 2011's Here and Now, topped both the HMV Canada CD sales chart and the US iTunes Album chart in its 1st week of sales, and debuted at No 2 on the US Billboard 200.
