Nick Motmans falls while riding at his home

The talented and well-liked Belgian showjumper Nick Motmans took a nasty fall from his horse at his home in Lanklaar in Dilsen-Stokkem on Monday, Dec. 2. Motmans, 27, suffered major head trauma in that life threatening fall.

Varying media reports have been published about Motmans’ dreadful injury. Everyone has vowed to support his family in any way needed.

Doctors at Oost-Limburg Genk hospital have stated that Motmans’ condition “is still very critical.”

Some media reports have noted that Motmans is considered brain dead; some have even reported worse news. The writer is wishing for better news since the worst possible confirmation has not been released and we need to remain most hopeful as long as we can do so.

It is surmised that when Motmans came off his horse during the fall, his horse may have grazed his head.

Investigators with the Maasland Police and Labour Department are seeking further information and the circumstances of the riding accident.
