Richard Pryor is one of the funniest, if not the funniest stand-up comedian of all-time. This is according to anyone who knows anything about comedy. He was a very controversial figure and it is interesting to note that since his death in 2005, there has yet to be a major motion picture made about his tumultuous life.

Earlier this year, it was reported that the director of 'The Butler,' Lee Daniels, was in talks to direct a Richard Pryor bio flick...http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/lee-daniels-talks-direct-richard-669815

In an interview with MTV News, Nick Cannon discussed his desire to take on the role of the legendary comedian. Cannon said, “I started in standup doing Richard Pryor’s material in church,” Cannon then continued by saying, “that was one of my first impressions that I ever knew how to do, is Richard Pryor, at like 11, 12.”

Cannon then discusses the research he has put into the possibility of playing the role of a lifetime. “Now that I am doing a lot of the research, and actually digging really deep and trying to find every piece of work that he ever laid his hands on, it’s like, ‘Oh, this is stuff that’s kind of already in me,’ ” Cannon explained that, “just as an actor, man, it’s things that you do to actually embody something, and figuring out people’s mannerisms…I’ve read every piece of material, every book. And you understand that he’s definitely a complex individual.”

This is a role that could possibly change the way the world looks at the legacy of Nick Cannon. It may be hard for some to imagine Nick Cannon playing the role of Richard Pryor. Then again, not many people imagined Jaime Foxx playing the role of Ray Charles and everyone knows how that turned out.
