Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey married in April 2008. It seems that since then, Carey has noticeably put on a few pounds. And that is all it takes for the media types to spread the word and speculate reasons for the weight gain. Of course, pregnancy was first on the list, but to date, a pregnancy has not been confirmed. Other reports mention that she is so content with married life that working out is just not her number one priority.
40-year-old Carey and 28-year-old Cannon started dating in March of 2008 had a 3-week whirlwind romance and married a month later. When they met, Carey was slim and fit and due to a strict diet and daily workouts in her swimming pool.
This May at the Cannes Film Festival, Mariah's fuller-figure became a topic of discussion for the tabloids. According to softpedia.com, several media outlets were "picking" on Carey, saying the weight gain was attributed to enjoying married life too much. Other reports put the blame on the new CD she is working on and says that she is eating more because, she needs her strength for work, not for restricting her diet.
Softpedia.com also reported that Cannon had this to say to US Magazine, “It’s something that everyone deals with. Everybody is different for a reason; it ain’t about trying to be super skinny. That’s not what’s hot. It’s what’s inside.” Cannon also mentioned in the interview that curvy women are more beautiful and appealing than women who starve themselves to take on the frame of a runway model.
Cannon, is very supportive of Carey, and in so many words gave Us Magazine this bottom line. Back off! Mariah's weight should be no one’s business but hers.

I didn't even know she had gained weight but I know that she got super skinny which was unrealistic.
GOOD FOR HIM! Now that's how a husband should be! Mariah is absolutely gorgeous, and she certainly doesn't need to loose any weight. I really admire her husband for defending her.
I do like the guy, especially for his support of Mariah. She seems so happy with him, so the media needs to back and leave her alone. So what if she's gained weight? She's still a knock-out with an amazing voice and a cute husband!
Mariah Carey is a very talented and beautiful woman. She looks great..I didn't even notice any weight gain...and when she was super skinny there were still critics. Thanks Nick for defending you wife against all the negative media and haters. I love Mariah and Nick.
Nick like most men wants a woman with some meat on her bones. She looks great in that red dress. More to hold -- more to love. And I wouldn't be surprised if she is pregnant!
