“There is trouble in paradise,” the 33-year-old singer and TV host revealed."We have been living in separate houses for a few months.”
While the “America’s Got Talent” host ruled out infidelity as a factor in the split, a publicist for Mariah Carey wouldn’t comment on the personal matter, saying the pop diva is focusing on her two children, 3-year-old twins Monroe and Moroccan, and her upcoming tour.
Rumors have been swirling about the power couple’s rocky relationship for months, but Cannon has always downplayed the drama. But earlier this week, TMZ reported that the couple separated back in May, and that settlement and custody negotiations have been going on for months. The report also hinted at what could be a major factor in the demise of the couple’s relationship.
A source told the celebrity gossip site that Carey couldn’t get past Cannon’s boasting about his past relationship with Kim Kardashian. Cannon publicly bragged about sleeping the reality star on Stern’s radio show earlier this year, and it’s a topic that has come up repeatedly.
During a subsequent pit stop on Stern’s show, Cannon said his wife didn’t like when he visited the shock jock’s show, and she especially didn’t like it when he talked about the intimate details of their personal life. When Stern said Carey probably didn’t appreciate her husband rehashing his hookup with Kim Kardashian, Cannon fired back with: "My wife, she doesn't even know who Kim Kardashian is.” He went on to say that the most “amazing sex” he has ever had is with his wife.
But Cannon has never been all that quiet regarding his past conquests. During a visit to Power 106’s radio show in March, he was asked to list five women he slept with: “That’s easy,” he said. “OK, Mariah Carey, Christina Milian, Nicole Scherzinger, Selita Ebanks, Kim Kardashian.”
When the show’s hosts expressed surprise at the mention of Kardashian’s name, Cannon said, “You just forgot because there have been a lot of people since me.”
