Nicholas McDonald's first album, "In the Arms of an Angel," debuted at No. 6 in the United Kingdom for the week ending March 29, 2014. The Official Charts Company made the announcement on March 23, 2014.

That's the good news.

The bad news is that McDonald's first single, "Answerphone," is a flop. According to the Official Charts Company, "Answerphone" debuted at a lowly No. 73 in the U.K.

McDonald came in second place on "The X Factor" U.K. in 2013. He is signed to Sony Music's RCA Records.

"In the Arms of an Angel" is an album of mostly cover songs, including McDonald's versions of Five for Fighting's "Superman," Sarah McLachlan's "Angel," Christina Perri's "A Thousand Years," Bruno Mars' "Just the Way You Are," Westlife's "Flying Without Wings" and Adele's "Someone Like You."

McDonald (who is 17) is on "The X Factor" U.K. 2014 tour, which launched Feb. 15 in Belfast, Northern Ireland and ends March 29 in Birmingham, England.

The other former contestants on "The X Factor" U.K. 2014 tour are Sam Bailey, Luke Friend, Rough Copy, Tamera Foster, Hannah Barrett, Abi Alton and Sam Callahan.
