In the midst of promoting any movie as an actor, if you're involved with another major franchise, you're going to be asked about said franchise. That's just what happened with Nicolas Cage in the midst of promoting his upcoming animated film The Croods. Cage was asked if there's any plans for him to make anymore Ghost Rider films, he officially confirmed that he's done with the franchise. He put it best as he said, "I think the ship has sailed on that one, at least with me involved."
While he was proud of the work he did on the last Ghost Rider film, "Spirit of Vengeance" he is aware of the mixed reviews and reaction the film had gotten. He's especially proud of the fact of what they did with the budget they had as he notes, "We made it for $47 to $48 million dollars, and it approached $200 Million, I view that as a success." He does think that there will be another film may happen down the road but he's done with the character Johnny Blaze, at least for the moment.
Now what will the future hold for Ghost Rider in Hollywood? Who knows at this point at time, outside of that Nicolas Cage is done with the franchise. He does think that a female Ghost Rider could be interesting, so maybe that'll be the direction they go in next. In any case, you can check out Nicolas Cage in The Croods due from Fox and Dreamworks Animation on March 22 in theaters everywhere.
