The annual Niagara Icewine Festival will take place Friday, January 11th through Sunday, January 27th at various wineries and locations in the Niagara region of Ontario, Canada, including Niagara-on-the-Lake and St. Catherines (less than one hour from the Buffalo area).
The festival opens on January 11th with the “Xerox Icewine Gala: The Ice Queen’s Ball” at the Fallsview Casino Resort in Niagara Falls, Ontario. The evening features wines from more than 30 Ontario wineries combined with foods from the Resort’s top chefs, along with entertainment and a silent auction.
The Twenty Valley Winter Winefest happens Saturday and Sunday, January 12th and 13th from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday on the streets of Jordan Village. The festival features wines, food pairings, and entertainment, and is free to attend. Winterfest in the Square, taking place Friday, January 25th in downtown St. Catherines from 5 to 9 p.m., is also free to attend and features wine, food and entertainment.
Throughout the festival, individual wineries will be hosting wine and cheese seminars; each seminar costs $20 per person, and tickets are available online. The wineries are also offering a $40 Discovery Pass for the festival, valid for eight Winery Experiences on weekends (January 12th and 13th, 19th and 20th and 26th and 27th); these passes are also available online.
A number of hotel packages are available for the Niagara Icewine Festival – find out more about them here.
