Doug Kalitta (Top Fuel), Robert Hight (Funny Car), Erica Enders-Stevens (Pro Stock) and Andrew Hines (Pro Stock Motorcycle) continue to top the NHRA points standings following this weekend’s Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals at Bandimere Speedway near Denver, Colorado.
Kalitta (1,162) leads second-place Antron Brown (1,137); both drivers have clinched spots in the Countdown to the Championship in Top Fuel. Shawn Langdon (973), Tony Schumacher (830) and steve Torrence (814) round out the top five.
Denver winner Hight (1,179) leads team owner John Force (998) in Funny Car, followed by Ron Capps (921), Tommy Johnson Jr. (882) and Courtney Force (817). Hight wrapped up a berth in the Countdown to the Championship.
Enders-Steven (1,229) continues to lead the Pro Stock standings, ahead of Denver winner Allen Johnson (1,045) and his teammate, runner-up Jeg Coughlin Jr. (998). Jason Line (951) sits fourth in points, followed by Dave Connolly (948) in fifth. Enders-Stevens, who will be sitting out the next two races on the schedule, has secured a spot in the Countdown.
Hines (775) leads his Screamin’ Eagle Harley teammate Eddie Krawiec (640) in second; both riders have a spot in the Countdown locked down. Hector Arana Jr. (582) sits third, followed by his father, Hector Arana (488) in fourth and John Hall (438) in fifth.
The Western Swing continues next weekend, Friday through Sunday, July 25th through 27th with the NHRA Sonoma Nationals at Sonoma Raceway in California. Keep up with the action at www.nhra.com.
