NHRA Ashley Force-Hood expecting baby #2

It may be awhile before NHRA sees superstar mom, Ashley Force-Hood back on tour in her nitro funny car.

Force-Hood's sister and the most recent to take the funny car reigns, Courtney Force, let the cat out of the bag today that Ashley and husband Danny Hood are expecting their second child.

Force-Hood has been on extended hiatus from the sport since January 2011, when she announced she was expecting her first son, Jacob John Hood.

Since his arrival August 18, 2011, Force-Hood has remained in mom-mode, delaying her return to the sport. The extended departure has many questioning whether her helmet had been hung for good in early retirement. At the beginning of the 2012 season, Force-Hood stated in an official release that it was too early for her to get back to racing with Jacob being so young. She did not rule out returning, adding that she hoped to make a come back so that her son could also have the memories of his parent racing as she did with 15-time champ father, John Force.

Many were patiently awaiting the start of the 2013 season for a possible return, but with today's reveal, the NHRA world will have several more seasons of waiting in store before one of their favorite drivers could possibly return.
