There is no football this Saturday. Thus, there are no excuses for not watching hockey on Saturday. Don't tell me you are going to spend time with "friends" or "loved ones" instead of tuning into the NHL. There are 14 games Saturday and three games Sunday, so you will have plenty of opportunities to watch.
Saturday begins with a matinee game that is the best game of the weekend. At 1:00 PM Eastern, the Bruins host the Rangers. Those are the two best teams in the Eastern Conference, and it is a great matchup on paper. Philadelphia also takes on New Jersey in the afternoon, and a couple of West Coast teams have matinee games of their own. In the second best game of the day, San Jose visits Vancouver. Also, Anaheim hosts Ottawa, which is a bit less exciting.
While Montreal is struggling this season, anytime they matchup with Toronto it's worth watching. Florida facing Winnipeg is a better game than many would have expected it to be before the season began. Chicago takes on Nashville in a nice Central Division matchup. Dallas against Minnesota is also a strong matchup. Calgary is taking on Edmonton, which seems to be the case every week. The day ends with Colorado versus Los Angeles. There are plenty of other games, of course, what with only two teams not playing Saturday. In your face, Pittsburgh and Washington.
Speaking of Pittsburgh and Washington, they face one another in the NHL on NBC game Sunday at 12:30. That isn't quite the matchup that it was expected to be before the season, due to injuries and struggling Capitals and what have you, but it is still quite good. Boston takes on Philadelphia, another top notch matchup, and also Anaheim and Colorado will play.
That's a lot of hockey, with a few great games to boot. The season is in full swing and we are headed toward the All-Star break. Enjoy.
