NHL lockout finally over

After a 113 day lockout, it appears the players and management have finally reached an agreement. “We’ve got to dot a lot of I’s and cross a lot of T’s. There’s still a lot of work to be done,” says NHL commissioner Gary Bettman. However, hockey fans will be happy to know that the 2012-13 season will still occur. Assuming the NHL’s board of governors and the NHLPA’s executive board ratify the agreement, the league can schedule training camps and the season.

In spite of the lack of NHL games lately, you can still find hockey with the CHL. The Missouri Mavericks have been on the ice since October putting the puck into the net. Last weekend, the Mavs took home a win for both games, which gives them four in a row. This weekend the Independence Events Center is bringing you two more games with the orange army supporting our local hockey franchise.

Friday night the Mavericks face off against the Tulsa Oilers who are currently in last place of the Berry Conference with 21 points. The following night, the board checking continues against the Quad City Mallards who're also low on the totem pole with 31 points. Tickets are still available for both games.
