The demo includes access to the Play Now mode, where gamers can play as either the Boston Bruins or the Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks.
Players can also take those teams into the game's "NHL 94 Anniversary Mode," which celebrates the 20th anniversary of the iconic game with classic 16-bit gameplay.
If that wasn't enough depth for a demo, gamers can also try out the game's Hockey Ultimate Team Tournament and play against the Halifax Mooseheads, Boston Bruins, Chicago Blackhawks and Team Canada.
The demo is also the first opportunity gamers have to try this year’s latest gameplay additions to the series including the new “Enforcer Engine” as well as one-touch dekes and new NHL collision physics.
"NHL 14" is scheduled for a September 10 release on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
