Saturday, January 5th:
Cincinnati Bengals (6) at Houston Texans (3) - 1:30 pm on NBC.
Minnesota Vikings (6) at Green Bay Packers (3) - 5:00 pm on NBC.
Sunday, January 6th:
Indianapolis Colts (5) at Baltimore Ravens (4) - 10:00 am on CBS.
Seattle Seahawks (5) at Washington Redskins (4) - 1:30 pm on FOX:
On a local front, the San Francisco 49ers (2) have won the NFC's Western Division for the second straight year by defeating the Seattle Seahawks 27-13 on Sunday at Candlestick Park. The somewhat injury-ridden 49ers have earned a crucial first-round-bye and will play at home Saturday, January 12th at 5:00 pm vs. the Packers, Vikings or Redskins. The Atlanta Falcons (1) are the NFC's Southern Division champion and have also earned a first-round-bye for the upcoming weekend.
The contracts of seven NFL head coaches have been terminated within the past 48 hours and they are as follows:
Ken Whisenhunt - Arizona Cardinals
Norv Turner - San Diego Chargers (6 years tenure)
Chan Gailey - Buffalo Bills
Lovie Smith - Chicago Bears (9 years tenure)
Romeo Crennel - Kansas City Chiefs
Pat Shurmur - Cleveland Browns - Also terminated was General Manager, Tom Heckert.
Andy Ried - Philadelphia Eagles (14 years tenure)
Four additional General Managers were terminated which include Gene Smith of the Jacksonville Jaguars and Mike Tannenbaum of the New York Jets.
