Are you ready for some football? The answer from millions of fanatics is a very loud – YES! The NFL kicks off the 2013 season tonight when the Ravens take on the Broncos from Invesco Field. The game is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. EST and can be seen via live stream or on NBC television nationally.
According to a CBS Sports report on Sept. 4, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh knows the Broncos will be out to avenge last season’s stunning playoff loss, and so do his players.
"I've got a pretty good feeling that the Broncos fans are going to make us remember (and) think about everything that they want to," Coach John Harbaugh told the Ravens' official website.
"We know the environment we're going into. It will be the same environment, or even tougher, than the one that we faced in January. And we're excited about that."
Denver was one play away from advancing to the AFC Championship - that is until Joe Flacco connected with Jacoby Jones for a 70-yard touchdown pass with 31 seconds left in regulation forcing an overtime period in which the Ravens completed the improbable comeback with a 38-35 win.
Like they old saying goes, yesterday is history and tomorrow’s a mystery, but all you can focus on is today, so let’s start Week 1 out right when it comes to the NFL picks.
The Ravens may have lost a lot of players, but they are still going to be competitive in 2013. However the Broncos come into this game stacked on offense and defense, and should win this game.
The Las Vegas line is currently at 8, down from the 9.5 line it began at many casinos a few months ago.
Rule of thumb number one in gambling, you can’t pick a team if you don’t believe they have a shot at winning. The Ravens shouldn’t win this game, and they won’t.
If Denver is as good as advertised they will win by two scores.
Pick – Denver -8
