NFL Trade Rumors: San Francisco 49ers' confident of trading Alex Smith

According to sources for ESPN on Feb. 26, 2013, it appears that the defending NFC Champion San Francisco 49ers' are looking to make a deal to trade quarterback Alex Smith in the off

Alex Smith started the 2012-13 NFL season at the top of his game ready to lead the San Francisco 49ers' hopefully to the playoffs and beyond. However, despite his best efforts an injury sidelined him midway through the season.

That allowed present day starter Colin Kaepernick to step into the spotlight, and he did not disappoint. Even though he failed to complete his second half comeback against the Baltimore Ravens in the Super Bowl, Kaepernick looks to be the future of the 49ers.

It is believed that both the Arizona Cardinals and the Kansas City Chiefs are the two leading candidates to land the former California Golden Bear, but there have been no definitive discussions brought to the light of the media just yet.
