NFL trade rumors from 2013 now include Tony Gonzalez. The speculation about a Gonzalez trade by the Atlanta Falcons has created quite a few rumors across the league. According to a report from ESPN on Wednesday (Oct. 9), it even includes a possible return to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Despite all the clamor from fans to get him back to a team that has a great chance to make the postseason, it really doesn't look like the Falcons are interested. Head coach Mike Smith weighed in on it after practice on Wednesday, stating that, "That's preposterous that Tony would be traded. He's an integral part of our offense and has been since he's been here. And he's having another Hall of Fame season."
Any team would be lucky to acquire someone with the talent of Gonzalez and all fantasy football owners already know this. In five games this season, he has 33 catches for 339 yards and three touchdowns. He is putting together another Pro Bowl season and could be in line for even bigger numbers in the coming weeks. With Julio Jones out for the season, Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan could be looking for him even more often.
While all the 2013 NFL trade rumors about a Tony Gonzalez deal might be interesting, it doesn't look like anything is even remotely close to taking place. The Atlanta Falcons aren't a franchise that is ready to just throw in the towel on this season, especially with the talent still on that roster. As for his fantasy football impact moving forward, Gonzalez just became even more valuable.
