There are a lot of similarities between movies and football which is probably why the popular sport has consistently scored high ratings on the small screen. They both contain drama, suspense, heartbreak, a high stakes pursuit, obstacles to overcome, tragedy and triumph. Quintin Demps can certainly relate as the Kansas City Chiefs were one of the best stories in the league last year. His team finished the 2013 season second in the AFC West, won 11 games and made a playoff appearance following a disastrous 4 and 12 season the prior year.
Examiner spoke with the star safety and kick returner who’s on a promotional tour for his new record label Purpose By Faith and single “No Struggle” about his team’s surprising turnaround.
“It was just remarkable. It was just outstanding. I think (Coach) Andy Reid did a great job of you know getting us to buy into the system. We all bought in and we all fought hard for each other.”
Demps thinks viewers could be in for an exciting nail-biter when the AFC champion Denver Broncos face off against the Seattle Seahawks champions of the NFC in Super Bowl XLVIII on Sunday.
“It’s the best of the best. They’re going to show up on Sunday. I think it’s going to be a game that comes down to the last drive. Those are the kinds of games you want to see.“
The multi-talented sports star and Texas native is also scouting for a new artist as part of his venture into the music world.
“We’re just looking for the best talent. The winner is going to get to come with me to Houston, go to church, to the studio, have dinner; we’re just going to kick it in fellowship.”
The deadline for submissions has been pushed back to Thursday Feb. 20. For more information on how you enter Demps' talent search, you can follow him on Twitter or check out his Purpose By Faith website.
