The 2012-13 New York Jet's quarterback position was a merry-go-round that no one will soon want to be a part of. Tim Tebow looks to be on the trading block yet again as of Feb. 4, 2013, and the only thing saving Sanchez is the financial implications of letting him go or trading him.
According to reports from ESPN insider Rich Cimini the Jets could be looking to a different option all together. If rumors are true the Jets could be looking to make a deal with the San Francisco 49ers' for now backup quarterback Alex Smith.
The veteran only lost his place due to a concussion that saw Colin Kaepernick step in and take over as head coach Jim Harbaugh took the risk of letting a second year player decide his team's fate. However, with Kaepernick now entrenched as the first choice, Smith could be likely to accept a move to return to the the starting spot somewhere else.
Smith had a storybook job playing in the town where he was a legend for the University of California at Berkeley for the 49ers' but all dreams unfortunately have to come to an end at some point and it looks to be time for Smith to look elsewhere to a new challenge and a new potential route to the playoffs.
