NFL Rumors: New York Jets could trade both Tim Tebow and Mark Sanchez

The New York Jets made a splash with their trade to acquire quarterback Tim Tebow prior to last season. However, he was rarely used and staring quarterback Mark Sanchez failed to show up during 2012-13 and only third choice Greg McElroy seemed up for any challenge at all. As of Feb. 4, 2013 is looks like things could be changing real soon in New York.

Reports from ESPN insider Rich Cimini that the Jets could be in the markets for trading Tebow is not a surprise, but the potential trade of Mark Sanchez could also help the club free up some salary cap room and allow them to work on a deal for a better suited player to fill the void.

Despite the fact that the Jets would take a good hit if they cut Sanchez or traded him could still be a determining factor as to the form USC quarterback's fate. However, Tebow on the other hand will more than likely be itching to get out of New York where he has rotted away on the bench for a season.

Sanchez and McElroy are expected to be fighting for the starting job on opening day, but there is likely to be much more to be said about whether or not the Jets will look to find a new quarterback in the off-season.

In the most likely case they will be looking to make a strong pickup in the 2013 NFL Draft, and if they can find a hidden gem in the middle rounds, such as Seattle's pick of Russell Wilson, they could be in a much better position.
