Elvis Dumervil rumors are starting to heat up and should only get hotter as the upcoming week progresses. Dumervil was released by the Denver Broncos Friday because of what's being called a "mishandling of paperwork."
Broncos fans have to be wondering how in the world that could happen, but nevertheless Dumervil is now a free agent. Is it possible that Elvis could land in Detroit?
According to SB Nation on March 16, the Lions are very interested in talking to the star. Could Dumervil be the next free agent landing for the Lions?
It may seem like a pipe dream, especially since Dumervil has expressed interested in staying in Denver, but you never know. One thing is for sure, adding Dumervil to this Lions defense could instantly bolt them to one of the best in the NFC North.
SB Nation reported (via USA Today) "Someone informed of the interest from other teams since Dumervil's release said the New England Patriots, Baltimore Ravens, Houston Texans, and Detroit Lions all inquired about Dumervil's availability and expressed interest in talking to him in the near future. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because those conversations were to remain private."
Dumervil is a flat out beast, and he shows something teams love - consistency.
He had 17.0 sacks in 2009, 9.5 sacks in 2011 and 11.0 sacks and 6 forced fumbles in 2012. Now those are some great numbers. Add to the fact that Elvis missed the 2010 season due to an injury, and it shows that this guy has been one of the best at his position for a long time. Dumervil would be a great add to the Lions, so get out that check book Mr. Ford!
