The NFL preseason 2013 live stream and televised schedule brings the final games of the preseason on Thursday, Aug. 29. In a week the 2013-14 NFL season will officially kick off, with teams looking to make final roster cuts beforehand. One of tonight's featured NFL live streaming and TV games will be the NY Giants vs. New England Patriots, in what would make an intriguing matchup during the regular season. Coverage will be provided thanks to NFL Network and NFL's online subscription service.
An Aug. 29 report via CBS Sports indicates that tonight quarterback Tim Tebow should see a lot of playing time, in a game in which he could possibly earn one of the 53 available roster spots for the Patriots. If Tebow fails to impress, he may not be a part of the team for the upcoming regular season. As of this report, Tebow's preseason stats are 5-of-19 passes completed for 54 yards. A glaring -1 yard performance against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is also hanging over his head, along with a variety of career-defining QB skill issues.
Despite all that, there's plenty who want to see Tebow as a part of the team, including Patriots' owner Bob Kraft, who told the media:
“Anyone who's met him, he's a very special young man. I have the privilege of letting Bill (Belichick) make that decision. He's got a pretty good record doing that.”
New England coach Bill Belichick has noted that keeping Tebow means a difference in the offensive schemes the team would use. One would be a "more run-oriented scheme" involving Tebow. Belichick said:
“I don't think it's uncommon. We've had those types of things in our offense before. This is a little bit different, but we're not trying to reinvent the game or anything. We're just trying to take advantage of a particular player's skill, and that's no different than something we would do with a tight end, or a receiver or running back who has a skill that we want to try to take advantage of.”
Coming into tonight's matchup, the New England Patriots have a record of 2-1 in the preseason and 1-0 at home. They suffered a loss last week to the Detroit Lions 40 to 9. Meanwhile, the NY Giants enter the game at 1-2 in the preseason, but 1-0 away. They won their away game against the Pittsburgh Steelers 18-13 back in week 1 of the preseason, then dropped consecutive games to the Colts and Jets in weeks 2 and 3.
Current weather reports have temperatures in the low 70's right now at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass. The forecasts are for partly cloudy skies with temperatures dipping to the low to mid 60's later on tonight. The current odds have this game at either a pick or with the Patriots favored by 1.
Tonight's Giants vs. Patriots game has a start time of 7:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Viewers can watch on cable or satellite TV via the NFL Network, with a replay typically shown after the game ends. To watch online, fans should check out the NFL Preseason Live subscription service. The service has gone down in price after each week of the preseason, and is now available at $14.99, with the live streaming games available through Sept. 15 of the regular season.
