The NFL preseason 2013 live stream and televised schedule features just two games on tap for Thursday night. In one of the two contests, the Carolina Panthers visit the defending Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens for a preseason matchup. Tonight's NFL live streaming and TV game gets featured with coverage via the ESPN networks.
According to an Aug 20. report via ESPN, the big news out of the Panthers practice sessions is that running back Johnathan Stewart is still missing from the lineup. Stewart had surgery performed on both ankles, and will miss a third straight preseason game tonight. Panthers coach Ron Rivera said of the situation:
"At this point anything is an option. What you're hoping is you can get him on the football field and we'll see once the doctor gets a chance to look at him.
You'd love to have him but we'll have to wait and see how it goes. It's going to take a little time."
DeAngelo Williams and rookie Kenjon Barner have been filling the void for Carolina in Stewart's absence and are likely to see more playing time on Thursday night. Star QB Cam Newton should see at least a quarter of action on the field for the Panthers.
As for the Ravens, the big story with the Super Bowl champs is their recent trade activity. The team sent wide receiver David Reed to the Indianapolis Colts in exchange for running back Delone Carter this Wednesday, BaltimoreRavens.com reported. Apparently the two teams were clearing up spots at those particular positions as they each had a "surplus."
Carter is in his third season now at age 26. He played in 10 games last season, accounting for 122 yards and three touchdowns on 32 runs. The 5-foot-9 RB will now serve as a backup to Pro Bowler Ray Rice for the Ravens. There's no word if Carter will play in tonight's game yet, but it appears Ravens' back Bernard Pierce will after missing last week's game against Atlanta.
Tonight's Panthers vs. Ravens game has a start time of 8 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. ESPN will broadcast the game in standard and hi-def on their cable or satellite channels across the country. The live streaming version of the game is scheduled for those with access to the WatchESPN/ESPN3 broadband sports network. See more details here on how to watch.
